The event was held at Sto. Nino de Romblon, Romblon on Feb. 17-21.

This is a project of the Department of Education (DepEd) to promote sports and sportsmanship to the youth, thus encouraging students to focus on their studies and sports and deviate from other activities that may affect their grades or performance in school.

It took weeks of diligent preparation and practice for the athlete delegates in their determination to bag the gold medals for the different events of the games. Marinduque Division Head Magdalen Lim said she was optimistic that the students will bring home pride and honor for the province.

Marinduque brought home 16 gold medals which include six for badminton, five of which were won by students from Malindig Institute of Sta.Cruz and one from Marinduque National High School. Three of the golds are for Taekwando, three for table tennis, two for table tennis, one for arnis-bantam weight, and one for arnis.

There were also 13 silver medals won for badminton, taekwando, and arnis; and 30 bronze medals for the same events and the other events like boxing, hurdle 110m, 5000m run and sepak takraw.

DepEd officials and the provincial government of Marinduque expressed pride for the winners and commended them for a job well done. (LBR/MNL-PIA4B, Marinduque)
